Abstract

-The limited access to education and health influences labor productivity. The lower the access the lower the productivity therefore higher educated labor is more productive than lower educated people then he gains more income and welfare than his counterpart. This research aims to study causality between education expenditure and economic growth in Indonesia. The research design using the time series secondary data with Eview's software of statistic, and the sample are Indonesia for 1964-2009. The results of this research are as follows: (1) The finding using Granger Causality test indicates that Indonesia has directional relationship running from education expenditure to economic growth (2) Education expenditure for Orde Baru periode (1974-1997) running from education expenditure to economic growth, but the Reformasi periode (1998-2007) running from economic growth to education expenditure. Kata kunci: causality Granger, education expenditure, economic growth.
